In 2023, Fred’s father confessed him that his name « Gelissen » was not the name he should have received from his ancestors.

Many decades ago, just before the first World War, his grand-grand father who actually had German origins moved to Belgium with his wife. During this period, Belgians and Germans were not the good friends they are now, and the sounds of war were already resonating… Consequently, he decided to give his children the name of his beloved Scandinavian wife: Gelissen.

His grand-grand father’s German name was Kreuzman. which can be translated by “Crossman”. Keeping the original “K”, Krossman sounded nice for a brand but slightly too much like a superhero’s nickname like Batman, Ironman, Aquaman… Getting rid of the « man » was wise and natural, hence « Fred Kross » which sounds pretty elegant for our artistical concept.
